Tsawwassen Area Plan Survey Due Today

Today is the last day for Tsawwassen residents and business owners to mail in the recent Ipsos Reid poll requesting feedback on the Tsawwassen Area Plan (TAP). After many attempts to gauge public opinion on the contentiousness plan the Corporation of Delta commissioned the market research company to distance themselves of any claims of collusion. Previous efforts by the city to collect data were plagued with one flaw after another, making some citizens doubt the city's motives.

The cover letter included in the mail-outs specifically states that the survey must be filled out and mailed by June 18, 2010. There was some confusion as to what this date meant at last night's TAP meeting. The example given was if an individual or business owner placed the letter in the mailbox Friday evening and it wasn't picked up until Monday, the letter may not arrive until the following week. Would the survey response still be valid?

Councilor Bruce McDonald stated that Ipsos Reid will be accepting surveys mailed beyond that date as there is no way to verify when a letter was actually placed in the mail but he didn't know when the actual cut off date was.
