Deas Island - Hundreds were on hand to buy tickets for this years dance presentation of the Wizard of Oz. The line up of eager parents extended from the front entrance of the Deas Island Dance Studio, located in the industrial complex behind the Primrose Restaurant, down the front of the building and around the corner of the building. Tickets went on sale at 10:30am but the wait for some willing enough to brave the chilly weather began at 4:30am. By 7am there were over a dozen and by 10am well over a hundred.Tickets were only on sale to the parents of the performers and were limited to ten tickets per family. Even with the limits in place, those showing up closer to the ticket counter opening were shocked to find out they would be watching their children from the side aisles of the Genesis Theatre.
Deas Island Dance Studio puts on a year end production every spring and it is always well attended. Parents have two more opportunities to purchase tickets on Monday May 3rd between 3:30 - 5:30 and on Thursday May 6th between 6:30 - 8:30. Tickets to the general public go on sale May 15th. The show runs from June 3rd to June 6th at the Genesis Theatre.
