In response to the numerous problems and inaccuracies involving surveys collected regarding the future of the Southlands in Tsawwassen, Delta Mayor and Council agreed Monday night to discard the previous round of surveys and commission an outside company to redo the collection of public opinion.
This recommendation was put forward by Delta CAO, George Harvie. Mr. Harvie’s staff estimate the cost of hiring a survey firm ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 depending on the complexity of the survey.
“It is another example of taxpayers being forced to pay for Staff and Council’s ineptitude.” said Dana Maslovat, one of the organizers of Southlands the Facts. “The main question – whether the Southlands should remain designated as agricultural – could be asked at no significant cost during the upcoming by-election.”
